Firepod question

I was wondering if I have effects or EQ routed through the Preamp Output/Line Input connections...will the effects be available for all 8 inputs or only inputs 1 and 2?

Also, to help me visualize...could you possibly explain your Firepod set-up, so I can properly set mine up. Thanks!
 
I'm not sure about the effects, I just use the effects in cubase and some that I've downloaded.

As for my setup.
I have a snake run from my performance room to the control room. I have all 8 inputs in the front hooked up in cubase to channels 1-8 for drums. and then I just move mics around for guitars and vocals and everything else. It's all in the routing, which in cubase is on the main mixer.

Ok, I have another question:

I also have a Yamaha MX12/4 mixer. Would it be easier to leave it out of my set-up completely, or would it make more sense to go through the mixer and then to the Firepod? Or, would it make more sense to go directly into the Firepod, and then route the signal to the mixer? Thanks again.
