Echo or not?

Hello,

Let's say the recording process is like this, mic -> art tube preamp -> mixer/amplifier -> soundcard's line in. The mixer itself provides echo to the micrphone, is it better to turn it off and then add it in later using recording software?

Save all reverb/echo type effects until mixdown (ie in software) If you record with the echo/reverb, you're stuck with that effect and can't undo it if you don't like it.
