Echo "Mia" 24/96 card any good?

Fellow musicians and engineers,

Does anyone have any experience with the Echo cards? Specifically the Mia? I've been using one for a week or so now, and I'm pretty happy with what I'm getting out of it (using Cool Edit 2000 to record high resolution tracks right now) except for one caveat --

I've only noticed this problem while I'm auditioning a recording. Occasional pops and crackles, but even more anoying: if I adjust the output volume from the Mia control panel sometimes sliding the level causes more pops and crackles with the output occasionally going into a superdrive pop-and crackle mode where it sounds like I'm playing the recording through a kazoo. if I leave the software volume slider there, then go to Cool Edit and stop/start the playback suddenly it sounds crisp and clean again!

This is whacky! Could I have a bad card? Should I be using something other than an Echo Mia in the first place? (I still have a week or so to return it to G.C. if I can find a better sollution.) Thanks in advance for any ideas or sugegstions!!!!!

Have you upgraded to the new drivers on their website?????

I had an occasional crackle before but the new drivers elimiated all problems. Mine is working great.

Yes, version 6.0 here

Yep - I'm running the 6.0 drivers on a WinME box (Pentium4, 512ram).

I'm also using balanced XLR/TRS cables from my mixer into the Mia card (at +4dB) and balanced XLR/TRS cables out to my Mackie HR824 monitors (at -10dB).

I'm also using MIA and I have been very pleased. Sounds odd you could consult echo support or maybe ask from SOS forum.
There was a while ago lot of talk about the MIA, and because the editor Martin Walker is using the card you can get more info thru his contacts.

You might have a bad card.:(
