does amd 3500+ (64bit) need windows x64?

well it's said in the title. Will my old version of windows xp home with sp2 work well or am I better off to go with the x64?

sorry If this question is dumb to you, but I don't know much about the underlying processes of 64bit. :rolleyes:
 
a 64-bit processor will work just fine with win xp. Just rejoice when you can get the windows 64-bit OS!!! Think about music software editing, DOUBLE the bit rate! :eek:
 
yes it will but in 32bit mode. no need to configure the mother board. usually by default its set for 32 bit or auto. but when 64 bit is broken in and more support for hardware and software is avaliable then you will have the processor already for the upgrade. just a simple bios setting change and off you go. unfortunatly P4 useres will have to get a whole new processor and a bios flash update to us 64bit windows. take that into account when selecting processor.
