Helping my son get set up for recording with his new laptop. He has:
Toshiba Laptop - Satellite C55A 64Bit
Running Windows 8.1 with USB 3.0
AMDA4-5000 Quad Core 1.5Ghz
6 Gig RAM
500Gig HD 5400
the audio interface he has is an Alesis I04
I have had experience with Homestudio 4XL in the past and would like to choose a new DAW in the Cakewalk family due to familiarity and existing recordings I can bring over. The slow processing speed of his laptop however does not match any of the newer Cakewalk products requirements. If I choose an older version (Homestudio 9XL, etc) that the processing speed can handle, I do not know if I can make it work with Windows 8 or get support. He's getting an 7200 external drive for storage and the AI will work with his setup. He will not be doing any multi-tracking and not alot of VST or massive track recordings. I have all the info for optimizing the laptop and the OS.
So am I out of luck with Cakewalk? or can his 1.5 Ghz processor manage when the newer W8 compatible Cakewalk software requirements are calling for 2.3 Ghz and higher?
