Computer/Hard Drive Setup

I read the sticky on Optimizing Your DAW Computer and some other threads, but still have some questions.

I see where some have recommended using 3 hard drives, but others say you only need 2. I can use 3, but was wondering if it would be better to just use 2? I have REAPER & BFD3 installed on my main drive (500GB). Initially I had the BFD3 Core Library stored on my main drive, but moved it to the 2nd drive (1TB). Is it OK to store all my VST's, BFD3 Core Library, and my audio files all on the 2nd drive? And just use the main drive to hold the programs? Or should I use 3 drives and store only audio on the 3rd?

I would suggest partition one of the HDs into two drives, put the OS and apps on the C, use D as active project space. Use your second physical drive as primary storage. Then for backups, back up C drive once and then as required. D more often and then E as required. That way the only drive you have to manage actively is your D drive, since that is the one getting updated the most.

Just a suggestion.
