I can't believe this hasn't come up yet.
I want some opinions on 8 track cards. Has anyone compared all the major ones side by side?
I guess DigiDesign has some of the best stuff, but very expensive. On paper, Layla 24 looks good, and isn't too expensive. Sek'D appears to have good stuff at a nice price, but is it any good? Gadget Labs looks to have some good stuff, but I guess there won't be anymore updates and their unit can't do 96 kHz. And I guess Aark and Delta make some good stuff too.
It looks to me like any of these would be a good bet. I'll settle for 16 bit 44 kHz for now if the price is right, but I know 24/96 will soon be the standard. I also need to know how well these work with Cool Edit Pro 1.2a.
And if it matters, I'm running Win 98 on an AMD K6-2 450 with 64 megs of RAM.
