Checking memory?(ram)

I have heard that there is software that is able to check for faulty memory.Has any one heard of this or know what it is called.
 
I don't know of any software (none that isn't super expensive) that will check memory. A memory tester, hardware based is insanely expensive as well.

The easiest way to test memory is to swap it out with a known, good piece. Maybe buy another 128MB and try it by itself, if the problems go away - It was probably the original DIMM. Memory is pretty cheap at the moment. Less than $1 per MB.

Memory down here in OZ is quite exspensive .Just over $200
for 128.I might check out the price of two 64's. I hear that can be a cheaper way..
