Chaining on Firewire (HD + interface) or HD on USB and interface on FW ?

Hello, I am recording using a bus powered firewire interface on an external firewire hard drive. The hard drive can also be connected USB but I've heard many times that firewire is much more stable for that kind of application.

Now I have only one firewire input on my computer, is it a good idea to chain my interface with the hard drive on the firewire bus ? Or should I plug my hard drive through USB in this case ?

Thanks,
Francis.

The "right" thing to do in this senario is get a firewire port..I don't know what computer you're running but a good pci port is about $30.00.

I tried chaining both hard drive and interface today and it worked flawlessly for recording 4 tracks simultaneously at 256 samples buffer size ! Thanks for the help though.
