bit depth, sampling rate

Hi - If I have songs recorded at 16/44 & increase to 24/44 will that adversely affect the songs I've already done (in Cakewalk GTPro)?

Is there more audible improvement fr increasing bit depth or sampling?

And finally, I have the Edirol UA 5 s. card which says it supports up to 96K sampling but when I set my recording software to 48K it says the s. card won't support it. I'm having trouble getting an answer fr Edirol. Thanks!!

Upsampling only pads zeros to the front of the data.
It does NOT improve the quality.

For example
123456789ABCDEF
00000000123456789ABCDEF

The second one does not have any better quality, just takes up more space.

Now this will give you some more room for your plug-ins to make more accurate calculations if the numbers spill over into the zero's area, but it won't make the original sound any more better (and when you go to make a CD, you have to bring it down to 16bits again anyway....)

Hope this helps.
