Binks Speaker Test Files

I have Binks series of speaker test wav files loaded on my laptop, but the standard windows player application tries to auto adjust the output and ends up distorting the sound.

Can anybody recommend a decent codec to provide an exact repro?

I would use some other audio software, like Sound Forge, to play back the files. You could download Audacity for free if you don't have an audio editor on your computer.

I tried everything to stop the damn resident software from interfering with the output - but with no luck!

I downloaded audacity for free as you suggested however - and that in combination with some software I scrounged did the trick.

Many many thanks!

I've managed to get myself a very accurate digital db analyser, so now I can do some serious analysis of speaker vs frequency output - something I've wanted to do for a while.
