Best way to record drums?

Hi, my friend is a drummer, and he wants to record with four microphones. Can anyone please give suggestions on what kind of interface he should get? His computer is not by his drum set. In this case, would it be better to get a multitrack? Any help is appreciated.
 
If he's looking for best it would be to tape. But any interface with 4+ decent preamps, AD/DA converter. Nice mics and nice sounding room and the drums tune as perfectly as you can. Nothing has to be very expensive just decent. Run long mic cables if you have to or join two or three together, not the best practice but you'll get a signal.
