best all around laptops

I'm looking into buying a laptop - not ONLY for recording but just all around. What do you guys use/like?
Really I'm just looking for a really good deal.

I have heard lots of great things about apple powerbooks with regards to audio work. They would be your safest bet and reasonable value when compared to their windows PC equivalents (unlike their desktops).

hey alfalfa, I was just thinking about going the powerbook route...

I've never owned a MAC but the powerbook TI's just are so cool and they're supposed to have great multimedia power. Have you had any experience with recording using these laptops?

Sorry I dont own a powerbook, just read lots of good things about them. Generally there are fewer compatability issues with soundcards as there aren't many powerbook models. Manufacturers can test their soundcards with all powerbook models.
