AW1600 fault Sounds like helicoptyer in there..HDD faulty?Re-format? HELP PLZ

Hiya all,

I need some help please.
Aquired it in this condition.

Playing shop CDs ot the demo song it adds a digital sound like a machine gun burst, nearly continuous but it also nearly disappears - cycles approx. 2 secs. on, 1 sec. off.
Volume responds along with recording level and is evident on the empty channels too.
Sounds like an oscillation problem.
Any ideas please?

1st make sure there's no CD in the drive. That's the noise you're describing. If the platters in a drive were out of whack, it'd not make noise for long.
