audio workstation Nuendo

Yeah Elle - I've been playing with a copy of it and I really like it. The audio handling in track view is more like protools or tripleDAT with each track having an line drawn automation track for pan, volume etc and the option of fade in/out by dragging the top of the box back to create a fade.

Each track can be sized individually and the editor is more comprehensive with zoom into samples etc.

It's sortta like a boosted cubase but with less midi and more audio features. There are also additional nuendo pluggins available thru right click plus it also handles DirectX and VST pluggins.

It's steinbergs attempt at a Protools style DAW and I reckon it's well worth a try. I've been using Cakewalk recently and I'm seriously thinking of going to Nuendo.

I've been messing around with Nuendo (V1.2) over the past few weeks. Very impressed with it. Similiar to Cubase as to it's functions and layout, anyone who currently uses Cubase would have no problem making the transistion. It's what Cubase should have been. Seems pretty stable, never crashed once on me, than again neither did Cubase. I've run 16 tracks of drums, 4 guitars, Bass and a few vocal tracks, 24/44, a few plug-in's, no problem so far. PIII 800/128MB RAM.

I am also interested in knowing how the surround sound panners function. Can you pan in real time?

Thank you for the links and input! Very helpful.
The Nuendo website is having some trouble, so I have not yet found out any info about the hardware that comes with it. Does it have mic preamps? How many inputs? Audio quality? The hardware comes with it right?

Yes they supply a Nuendo Audio PCI Card which has 3 ADAT light ports (24/48) and ADAT sync (9 pin) They also supply two models of an 8 channel A/D D/A convertor. The expensive one is a renamed apogee and the cheaper one is a renamed Hammersfeld? or something)

One thing we haven't mentioned about Nuendo is it has indefinite undo!!

Cheers
John :)
