Audio Interface via firewire = latency? :::

Was wondering if using a firewire audio interface [ex. motu 828] will cause any audio mis-handling, or interference?

is firewire [400 mb/s, theoretical] fast enough to handle audio, w/out corrupting the data?

i've been skeptical about using firewire as my main interface for recording audio........

is this better than using a dedicated pci interface?

any suggestions/help would be appreciated! thanks

Yeah it can handle it, I have a buddy with a Ti-book and two 828s he records 16 inputs at once to a firewire raid.

They work fine for portable setups on Macs, on PC's it depends on the chipset of the interface and the motherboard.
