hey, fellas.
Im ready to get a new processor... and Id love some advice.

I have an asus p2bf, I dont wanna overclock anymore, and I want more power than my celeron 366 provides.

do I just go get the fastest pIII I can find, or should I be concerned with anything?

ps, I have a Mixtreme...does anyone have any probs with these and Intel chips??

xoxo

I'd go with a fast chip if you got the coin, avoid the overclocking route. From a quick visit to asus.com it appears the P2B supports coppermine, so you can probably use the upper MHz ones.

I recently upgraded from a 650 FC-PGA coppermine to a 800MHz Slot 1 coppermine. Made a big difference, can run 1 more reverb plug-in :) I was using a 300A @ 450MHz for over a year, which was very cost effective. But now, I think it's better off just paying the money and getting a non-overclocked fast chip. We have enough problems with the crummy chipsets floating around.

Stay one step behind, and watch the processor prices - sell your current chip when/if you can and the incremental MHz upgrade is not very expensive. In my case, it cost me $120 for an extra 150MHz.
