I have just finished my new daw build. The components are as follows:

Windows 7 professional 64 bit sp1 oem
case: coolermaster 690II advanced
PSU: corsair hx 650w
cpu: I7 2600k sandy bridge
ram: corsair vengeance 1600 ddr3 1.5v low profile 16g (4x4)
mobo: asus p8z68 v-pro gen 3
cpu cooler: noctua nh-d14
storage drives:1x crucial m4 128g ssd
:2x Wd 1tb 6gb/s 64mb cache
Interface: RME HDSPe Raydat
converters: 2x Behringer ada8000's

Are there any steps I need to take before installing my OS?
Also should I use or disable any of the functions on that mobo? It comes with the AI Suite II features that include energy management, fan speed control, voltage and sensor readings, and can interact with mobile devices such as bluetooth. (That is what the manual reads verbatim)

Is there any need to format new storage drives?

I will only be using this pc as a recording computer but will use internet only for driver and software updates. And ocassionally work with programs for art design.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi there.
That PC looks sweet.
i have basically an older version of it. (I7 930)

Here is my recommendation.
do not tweak hard.

i do like this.
created a new user account for music and did these changes.
Visual Effects > Adjust for best Performance (this disables all Aero effects).

go to Start > Control Panel > Power Options > choose "High Performance." Click the "Change plan settings" button, and make sure both options are set to "Never."

disable UAC, go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts (your account) > "Turn User Control on or off" > Uncheck "Use UAC" > OK > Restart.
Disable or Turn Off UAC (User Account Control) in Control Panel

Disable the the user Control Panel to disable UAC in Windows 7 in the search box typ UAC and pull the lever totaly down and restart.

now you should be set to go.
I do not recommend the Processor Scheduling > Background Services tweak..
In most cases it does not change anything for the user or the latency and in some cases you get weird cpu spikes.

Hope this helps
