I used to have a Direct Pro 24/96 and had some major issues with a VIA chipset motherboard (however, it was MSI, not ASUS) After searching around on their website (which no longer exists now by the way), I found an FAQ that discussed that the best chipsets for their products seemed to be the nforce. I then bought an ASUS with an nforce chipset, and everything worked fine. I do know that the Aardvark cards tended to be a bit picky about what they were setup with, maybe that's part of the reason that they went under. Who knows. Hope that helped a little at least.
