20 bit or 24 bit?

Hi all

I've almost bought my PC, but the last thing that's troubling me is the decision about my soundcard. On one hand there is the Guillemont Isis, 4 in 8 out en with midi interface, and there is the midiman delta 44, 4 in 4 out without midi interface.

The Delta is even a little more expensive, so I thought this was an easy desicion, untill my local dealer told me that the convertors on the Isis are 20 bit and those on the Delta 44 24 bit. Does this difference affect the quality of the convertors severely?

thanx for all advice concerning the difference between 20 bit and 24 bit.

Greetings

Brett

the truth is out there

at the expense of sounding crude and to the point. it's most likely you wont hear a difference. If money is a concern, I would go with what you can afford.

It depends a lot on the quality of the converters themselfs.
don't be impressed by the numbers. Make the effort to hear them side by side or at least recorded.

Go for what you think sound the best. The practical difference between 20 and 24 bit is much smaller than any other differences in sound would be, unless the material you record are EXTREMELY dynamic in its content.
