Using Spring reverb pedal for your recordings

Hard to tell what type of inputs there are on the pedal...whether they are hi-z or line level. If theya re the former then you're going to need a transformer on the input to match levels...that's like $15.

IMHO for $150 I'd be looking for a used spring reverb unit like a Tascam RS-20 or RS-20B...cost you nearly half as much, longer springs and designed for what you are wanting to do.

It is, actually...its not an emulator. Its got real springs in it, but they are relatively short compared to a traditional tank.

Would it be cheaper to buy a proper reverb tank like in an old Fender as they're only £25.00 or so?

Few electronic parts & a case / box to put in all in might be cheaper than buying one of those pedals?

BTW The Dan Chicken Salad Vibe pedal is the best value cheap stompbox out there!

Yeah you'd need to make a preamp thing for that to actually drive the springs properly but I've been tossing up that same idea for a while after I noticed they usually have RCA ins and outs on those tanks. Won't work "as is" but with a bit of a boost I reckon you could do it.

Not as easy as that.

Check out the Weber valve reverb kits, some of them have a trem circuit as well. I'm about to embark on one.

True true. You need to match the impedence and voltages and all that. Those kits look pretty nice, wish our dollar was still US$0.98...

Hey, you could go the truly home dodgy way:

haha might actually try that next time I'm really bored.

I wanted to keep everything pure analog and thought about getting the Danalectro Spring King Reverb Pedal for vocals etc. as an insert on my board for real spring reverb.

Would this work well? Would it connect just like a rack unit?

Thanks.

You could get it to work but I'd check out how it sounds 1st. If it sounds anything like an old guitar amp spring reverb it may not be useful on other sound sources. Don't confuse "analog" with "quality." There is a lot of crappy sounding analog gear out there, new and old.
