teac 80-8 transport problem

Hello, I have a teac 80-8 which has worked for the last couple years, and then suddenly the transport buttons stopped responding completely. No Play, FF, RW, or record. No response at all, the pinch roller doesn't engage. The capstan still spins...

anyone have any advice where to look first?

EDIT: I have already checked all the fuses and they are good. I replaced most of them with brand new fuses as well (even though they all tested good) just in case.

Maybe open it up and check the fuses? Odd for them all to fail.

+1 on checking the fuse for the transport section. Could be one of the reel motors was a bit too sluggish on starting up and drew too much current..if it was a fuse that blew.

If the fuses are still good, then I might suspect something on the logic board like a failed regulator transistor which may have given up the ghost due to heat failure. Check the ones which are heat-sink mounted as they run hotter and are prone to issues like that after several decades of service.
