[SOLVED] Tascam DX4 D & Tascam 22-4 compadibility

Being new I have no idea if this is the place for me to post my question/issue. It may be though from my quick brows around.
I have a pretty nice little Tascam 22-4. I bought a DX 4 D thinking it should be compatible. I tried recording with it in line (hooked up to the 22-4 via proprietary cable and connect to all respective encoding and decoding ports on the back of each unit) but no joy. Once I took it off line I was able to record but without nose reduction.
I did not see anything in the manual for the 22-4 regarding using any other nr unit than what they recommended. I hear there may be a mod to use this DX 4 D with the 22-4 and any other unit as well.
One tech told me I do not even need it at 15 ips
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Using this in conjunction with my presonus 8 channel

thx in advance and Hello All!
Jim

I seem to remember you need a jumper somewhere, as the recorder doesn't know how to tell the DBX unit to engage...

I'll see if I can find the details. That is, if our resident Tascam guru doesn't beat me to it :D

EDIT:

The jumper mod is explained here:

Question about dx4d

I'd read the entire thread, to understand the why and how of the mod.

Hi Jim----I have a Tascam 22-4 and 2 DX-4D'S.
I also have a Tascam 48ob that is hooked up to the
DX-4D'S and that control cable. I just take the cables
out of the Tascam 48 and hook them into the Tascam 22-4
Leaving the control cable in the Tascam 48.
The DX-4D'S don't know the difference.

But saying this you'll probably
have to do the Mod.
