Tascam 388 - Hearing Effects in AUX / EFFECT but not STEREO

Hi guys,

I just recently got a Tascam 388 and i'm trying to figure out the Effect I/O situation.

Basically I can send the effect loop from the 388 to my reverb and hear the verb when the EFFECT button is pressed (above the MONITOR/PHONES dial), and same if i'm routing through my AUX but I can't hear it when listening back in STEREO. I'm sure i'm just making a rookies mistake, but humour me!

My current situation;

Listening to a song recorded onto the tape
INPUTS - RMX
ASSIGN - LR pressed down
PAN - mostly mono
EFFECT RTN - GAIN 1 & 2 at 3 o'clock. PAN in centre
MASTER AUX & EFF - 3 o'clock
METER, MON & INSERT - Not pressed

MONITORS are attached to MONITORS OUT

So when listening back in STEREO I hear no effects, but when the AUX or EFFECT buttons are pushed down, I hear the effects hitting the tracks I have dialled in.

Just checked the STEREO OUTS on the back and they're sending only the wet effects, no clean signal.

Ok, update!

I had the effect return sending back into the BUS IN RCA. Put it into the 1/4 inch jack and it's working!
