Tascam 388 and alignment tapes

Rockin' & Rollin'
Hi, I have a Tascam 388 that I've had for a few months. I bought it locally, so it's never been shipped anywhere. My question is, in performing regular maintenance, do I need to use an alignment tape? I have no reason to believe the machine is out of alignment, but I want to perform all of the regular maintenance I can on the machine to keep it running.

Thank you,
-MD

The correct alignment tape is key to the calibration process, should you feel the need to calibrate.

The correct test tape is the TEAC YTT-8013 for testing frequency response, s:n ratio, cross talk, THD & erasure.

The Correct test tape for testing wow & flutter is the TEAC YTT-2003 test tape.

I am not sure what the MRL equivalents are but I am sure they make them too!

Good luck finding them!

Cheers! :)
