Hello, i have a fairly well maintained Tascam 112Rmkii i use for mixdown and other project's that i just love but as of recently i am having a problem. When i drop a Type ii tape into it and push either FF or RR or Play the transport will stop or move for a second then stop and the light indicating the tape type the machine is reading will blink a few times then stop. Sometimes it will happen in the middle of a recording and it is very annoying.
It seems to affect most of the type ii tapes ive put in it but ive noticed it is much less a problem with type i tapes, but sometimes the transport will stop itself with type i as well. im using TDK SA tapes and CD power tapes and Sony CD IT type ii's and Maxell UR and TDK D tapes and had the same problem across all brands. Any ideas what this is and if it is a cheap fix?
