Here's something even more exotic than the Cadey - one of the Allen & Heath 24-track machines, scrapped just before they entered production. Apparently a few prototypes were made, this must be one of them.

The Brenell page refers to it as "a new, technically advanced, state of the art, micro-processor controlled capstan-less drive, 2", 24-track studio mastering deck in which the spool motors did all the work."

I was actually the one selling it. It has sold now, but the gentleman who bought it is actually an engineer who plans on restoring it and then (I presume) selling it.

Nice. I think my main worry is whether the system software in the EPROMs is still intact. If not, someone is going to have to write a replacement because I'd be surprised if the source code or other binary copies still exist.
