Hey guys. i'm looking for a few books to aquire, that will help me understand in depth the whole idea of magnetic recordings, tape recordings and analog workflow as a concept. i study a 2 years sound course, with little to no reference to the good old ways.
Lurking around, i found a few options and if anyone has any experience with these books, woul'd love to hear it.

"The Complete Handbook of Magnetic Recording" by Finn Jorgensen

"Tape Recorders How They Work" by Charles G and Richard F. Westcott

in addition to that, does anyone has experience with good Troubleshooting or audio electronics books? i'm a beginner, that has to be said. i have basic knowledge in electronics. maybe it's too soon to start with audio electronics?
two that i have found:

"Troubleshooting & Repairing Audio & Video Cassette Players & Recorders" by Homer L Davidson

"Recording Studio Technology, Maintenance, and Repairs" by Tom McCarney

any other suggestions are well appriciated!

thanks

I'm not familiar with the books you listed, but I'd recommend The Musician's Guide to Home Recording by Peter McIan. It covers pretty much all aspects of recording (including mics and mic techniques), but it also spends a good amount of time on tape and how it works, etc.
