I've recently been using my 388 with some external preamps I've borrowed from friends. I really like the sound of the 388 pres but sometimes I need a bit more gain for certain microphones.
I'm thinking about getting some 500 series pres as there's a bunch of options and a lot of it is very reasonably priced.
The pres I've been using have line outs on the back of them and this has been perfect going straight into the line ins on the 388. I'm wondering if there will be issues for me using 500 series racks as they all have xlr balanced out connectors on the back.
If anyone can think of any other reason why going this way might not be the best idea I'd appreciate your thoughts!
