Hi, first post here for me
I have been having a read as I have inherited a Sony TC-366 with about 50 spools of tape and it works... sort of.

The take-up spool does not turn when playing. It functions AOK when on FF or RWD.
Can anyone point me in a direction to look in? Would it be the belt(s)?

    Thanks for any help,
    John

I would definitely check belts first. Just about every old machine I've played with has inevitably needed new belts.
The good news is that most of the time belts are relatively cheap, and there's been several times where that's all I needed to get the deck purring like new again.

Thanks, I will try that first. There's a guy on ebay UK that sells a belt kit with a manual!
