I'm Recording A Band This Saturday!

My pal Jon asked me to record one of his other friends' bands on my 388; since he's already arranged the session with them, and his desk is temporarily out of action.

The band is an Indie Punk three pieces (guitar, bass and drums with two singers), so I'm going to keep the production simple. The plan is to keep everything 1st gen with no bounces. The tracksheet I wrote out (with overdubs) is

Track 1: Lead Vocal (OD)
Track 2: Backing Vocal (OD)
Track 3: Guitar (OD)
Track 4: Guitar
Track 5: Bass
Track 6: Kick Drum
Track 7: Overhead
Track 8: Overhead

Hopefully it'll be fun and not at all stressful  :p

Not a bad plan at all though I'd avoid putting lead vocals and an overhead on the edge tracks as they're prone to dropoffs and poorer high frequency response. Not at least at 7,5 ips 1/4". I'd but the bass drum on track one, overheads on two and three for the sake of logic and then the backing vocal or the bass on track eight.

I'll try that. Cheers.

So revised track order

Track 1: Kick
Track 2: O/H
Track 3: O/H
Track 4: Bass
Track 5: Guitar
Track 6: ?
Track 7: Lead vox
Track 8: B. vox

That's the plan ;)

Assuming the band are okay with it. Could be the start of a recording demo file
