Any thoughts on this guitar would be appreciated, including fair price, it is in mint condition although the gold hardware is corroded.

I'm cleaning up years of packrat 'stuff' and I'm looking for some pieces to complete these pedals so I have an excuse not to toss 'em. If anyone has any cadavers or small parts to sell me, I'm buying. First is a Memphis Distortion pedal, which is much like an old Distortion + which is to say more overdrive. It looks like this;

I am missing the bottom cover. I would paint any suitable cover to try and match the blue, or just leave it alone. Approximate size OSM is 2.3125" x 4.6875". Next I have a strange Compressor by 'Cutec', that inside is a dead ringer for any Ross/MXR Dyna Comp. A stock photo looks like this;

I am missing the battery cover and bottom plate. The battery cover is approximately 2.875" x 1/2" or so. The bottom plate is approximately 2.6875" x 4.75" or so. Any battery cover will do, and I can paint that if need be.The bottom plate is more important right now, so that if I ever decide to try it on my board, I have something to velcro to!
Anybody? I realize the pedals aren't worth much, but what the heck. A fun winter project for me getting them going and looking complete. Thanks in advance for any tips or leads.

Hi,

I'm an acoustic player primarily, and haven't really done much on electric. I'd like to start experimenting a bit with electric guitars, and want something cheap to get me started. The Dean Evo XM guitars have some good reviews, and go for a great price. I've found a used one (great condition, about a year and a half since purchase but barely played) for £80, and I'm looking at buying it.

Bearing in mind I'm a young student and really can't afford to spend a large amount more on it, I want to ask you for some advice. With a budget guitar in the first place, do you think I should just find a new one to be on the safer side, or is the used one fine, given that it's a bit cheaper? Does anybody know about this guitar, is it any good, or should I be looking at something else?

Cheers,
Andy

I'm thinking that overdrives, boosters, wahs, compessors and EQs should be out front, whereas reverb and delay might be better suited in the amp's FX loop. Does that seem right? How about LFOs (chorus, phaser, flanger, etc.)?

I've played other fuzz pedals and they all seem to get lost in the mix when playing with a band. From what i can tell from the video, this thing sounds like it'll cut through the mix. What do you guys think??

I've had a fair amount of success with micing my amp thanks to you guys but I wan't to know if there's a better way to record directly than what I'm doing.

My amp is a peavey valve king 112 and it has a effects loop send and return and an external speaker jack. There is no line out or headphone jack. I am under the impression that hooking up my mixer directly to the speaker jack would be a bad idea and I'm pretty sure I don't want to do that, however I have hooked up the effects loop send to the mixer and I'm really disappointed with the tone. Apparently big 12 inch speakers naturally roll off highs a lot. I've gotten a mildly ok tone by running the effects loop send from that amp into this solid state amp i have on a clean channel just to do EQ shaping and then headphones out into my mixer and its EQ. But its just really processed by then and doesn't sound natural.

Am I screwed with the equipment I have? Should I buy one of those Hot Plate things? Should I just get an amp head with a line out?

I just want to be able to play and record with no sound coming from the actual amp speaker (apartments suck).
