I read somewhere that American XLR jacks differ to european ones in that pins 1 & 2 are reversed. That would pose a problem to me if i wanted to take advatages of nice US prices from here in England. could any one enlighten me on this. Also how difficult would it be to resolder the connexions, i have a basic ability in soldering and the neccesvcery equipment, i wouldn't bother doing ilke a whole 16 tracks of XLR's but i already have a small mixer, samson mixpad 4, from america complete with 2 XLR connecters.

Thank you for you help

You should check all gear with XLRs for their pin out cause they can very company to company. The standard though is pin 1=shield, pin 2=hot and pin 3=return. They're very easy to solder and resolder. Get your self a 30 watt iron from the shack, some solder and dive in.
