POD Pro into Dakota/Tango DAW...HELP!!!

BACKGROUND
Trying to connect a POD Pro to a Frontier Design Group Dakota/Tango combo.

1) Connected POD Pro to Dakota Card via SPDIF (POD's SPDIF Out into Dakota's SPDIF In breakout connector).

2) Set switch on front of POD Pro to 44.1Khz

2) Booted Cubase 3.7, activated Dakota's SPDIF Input

3) Created two tracks (POD L & POD R) in Cubase.

4) Heard stereo POD through Cubase

PROBLEM
Annoying "click" every 5 seconds or so accompanying POD Pro in Cubase.

MY SUSPICION
I need to synch the POD Pro to the DAW. As configured, I've set Dakota's Clock Source to "Internal" and the Tango's to "Optical", in other words, Tango is Slaved to Dakota. They work fine together. POD Pro is set to 44.1Khz.

MY QUESTION
How do I synch the POD Pro? I know the front switch should be set to "External", but do I connect it to Dakota or Tango? How? Also, should I be using AES/EBU between POD Pro and the DAW instead of SPDIF?

Any help?

Cheers!
