How, specifically which inputs / outputs on the mixer, do I add external FX to a Behringer MX2642A?

Parallel effect loop for reverbs, delays etc.: post fader aux out (Auxes 3-6 on your board) to effect (set to 100% wet) to whatever input is available or appropriate. If you have a free channel or pair of channels (for stereo effects), use that for more eq and routing options. Otherwise use an aux return.

Series effects like eq and compression belong on channel or group inserts, or simply patched in series after an output, depending on the application.
