As some of you know Lexicon was bought out in 2003. I recently called them regarding a legacy LXP model and all I can say is what the f**k???

The person I talked to was insulting, defensive and argumentative. He also seemed to have no clue how many people still like the old units. I had a very simple question about parts availability. He wouldn’t let me finish a sentence… kept cutting me off. He also acted like I was crazy for wanting to maintain a product that was discontinued so many years ago.

I have said before that the new Lexicon is not like the old Lexicon as far as quality products, so there is no love lost here. But this sort of conduct by the support department is just uncalled for. He had to be young because he thought ten years was a long time :p , but still no excuse for acting like a jerk.

I won’t even so much as look at any future Lexicon products until these assholes are bought out by someone else. Lexicon was always a name to be trusted back in the day. This drives the final nail in their coffin as far as I’m concerned… just another memory of better days. Lexicon no longer exists.

(End of Rant)

Odd, I had the exact opposite experience - they were fantastic.

I have heard a lot of people complain though.......

Time to call back and speak with that young whipper-snapper's supervisor!
Either that, or ask where you can reach one of the old guys.

true. The biggest audio conglomerate was bought by a bigger corporate buyout specialist conglomerate. Who knows what will happen to JBL, AKG, and the others now.

Lexicon stopped making anything decent under the Harmon Group. Harmon has fucked up everything they have touched.

I had a decent experience with support a few months back, I wouldn't call it outstanding, but the guy seemed willing to give me info. I was looking at a used M300 and asking about upgrade parts available as Lexicon still listed "yes" in the support column on the product(he said they were slowly running out of parts for 300, but not in the red on most...just the version upgrades were no longer available through Lexicon for the M300). I ended up going for a PCM90 instead as I couldn't quite convince myself of a need for the price difference. Anyway, it sounds like it may be intermittent on CS. What is that private guy's name that services older Lexicon products that worked there for years???? I forget, but I know he has a website. The proud owner of 3 Legacy products myself, I may need him in the future as well.

One more thing regarding the buyout...did I recently see on ebay a PCM91 in a new box that said "Made in China"? I thought I did. Have they transferred production overseas with the new ownership?

Dig the tombstone, btw :D :D :D :D :D

The budget to mid stuff has been outsourced for some time. The rest is sure to follow. :(

Last one to leave the U.S. please turn out the light. ;)
