I have 2 rack spaces left in my studio, and they really bother me being empty!:) I have a mostly analog home studio (I use PT almost exclusively as a drum machine) For fun, I'm curious to see what you guys and gals think is a weakness in my equipment, and what you would add to improve my setup. I have roughly $500 to spend. Thanks! Here's a list of what I have:

Mics: AT 4033, MXL V69me, Re-20, 421, 57, EV 635a, Beyer 160
Mic pres: Sytek 4 channel, 2 with Burr Browns, Soundcraft Delta pres
Compression: La-4, La-12
EQ: 2 White 4400 graphics, Delta channel EQ
Ex/Gate: Aphex 622
Effects: Roland SRV-330, SDE-330, SDE-1000, Yamaha SPX-90ii

Misc: Sansamp Psa-1, Patchbay, DBX 263x de-esser

There's nothing wrong with having a couple of empty spaces. If you have no specific need for anything at the moment, then just wait until a need emerges. And the benefit is that the spaces allow a bit of air to circulate.

I have a blank spacer with knobs glued on that I dubbed the Stereo Stupidifier with Digital Sonic Decrapulator™ that I use when gear is out for repair or what not. You can always do something like that.

Or vent panels -- Vent panels are nice. I have 1/2 space panels damn near everywhere just to keep everything happy & cool.
