I am carrying out some academic research and need your expertise.
I would like engineers and producers to help me define the following subjective terms pertaining to dynamic range compression:
1.Color/coloration-We often hear engineers state that compressors have a certain color: What does color mean to you? What do you listen for?
2 "In your face" vocal compression- What does this mean to you? What attributes would a compressor impart on a vocal track to make it "in your face?" Can you think of examples of this sound?
3. An "aggressive" vocal compressor. What does this mean to you? What are the characteristics of "aggressive" vocal compression. Can you think of examples?
