Connecting to Power Conditioner

Afternoon all,

This is my first post, so please be gentle.

Over the past 12-18 months I have been buying a few bits of second hand rack gear from eBay. I recently bought a power conditioner/distributor and have a question with regards to the most appropriate way to attach gear to it.

The power conditioner I bought has female IEC type connectors on the back. So to connect the bits of rack gear to it is it appropariate to -

1) Remove the usual UK 3-pin plug from the gear and replace it with a rewirable male IEC connector, or
2) Use a power strip and put an IEC connector on the end of that (each item would then be plugged into the power strip?

My thought is if I go with option 1) each item would no longer have it's own fuse, and would rely on the 10A trip switch on the conditioner.

Any guidance you can offer would be gratefully received.

Regards,

Rob
