please forgive, as i'm sure this question must have been covered ages ago. i just can't find it.
i'm linking a dual 31 eq together w/ stereo comp. into main inserts for mixdown/playback. haven't got a handle on the parametric thing yet. where to place send and return of trs's? into comp. first? eq first? how will it matter?

thanks in advance. i almost always get good advice here and do appreciate it.

Hey Mo! Do you want to use your aux send & returns in a stereo configuration or are U trying to hook up the EQ and comp as same in a channel insert?
 
Since bass Freq's have more energy,if you boost on a EQ the lows, it will affect the compressor making it work harder which might make damage your sound with pumping etc..

i'm using a mackie 1604vlz and tsr8 1/2" 8 track.
my impression from the mackie manual is that aux sends only
process half of the signal and that channel inserts process
the entire signal. the diagram for 8 track recording setup
shows comp and eq linked together to the main inserts.

using aux sends would certainly allow for more options, since i have only one stereo comp. and one stereo eq so i'm
going to experiment with it now that i've read your post.

what you say about the frequencies to comp. makes sense.
i guess i should go into the comp. with/trs send and
out from the eq w/trs return if using the processors linked.
