Balanced output to unbalanced patch???

Is it possible to connect a balanced output to unbalanced patch, like mic preamp? Is there a possibility of hums and hurrurs???

Any information will do.

Thank you.

yes it is if you do it correctly - firstly the two signals that need to go to the patchbay are the two wires in the cable - one is positive and one is negative.(usually red and black) The positive goes to the tip of a jack plug (or RCA) and the negative goes to the sleeve. The shield should remain connected to the balanced end but is not connected at the unbalanced end - that way the shield acts as a shield and drains any external interference back to the balanced unit's ground connection.

hope this helps
cheers JS
