Aphex Compellor 9301

Could anyone please help me identify what this black-square-box component is circled in red?

It's started leaking...something.... and I'd like to attempt to replace and save the card...all while possibly learning something too! Could it be adhesive? I had ruled this out since my other Aphex 9301 card has this same black box, but super clean and dry...no ooze.

I'm hoping to find some sort of marking / number / letter on it once I am able to start taking it apart and examine.

Currently, it's still intact as I'm waiting to hear back from the seller.

The compellor is only passing signal when it's in bypass mode (the in switch set to out)
