is the alesis nanoverb a decent reverb box for vocals? it is definitetly within my price range, and I am not asking for too uch from it. I just want that little bit more on vocals that reverb provides. (and I am addicted to buying gear)

I wouldn't use it for much else. For the price I guess it's a pretty good unit. The NANO line does not get a lot of good press here.

I do have a nanocompressor that works pretty good for bass.

The NANOVERB is actully a fine budjet reverb. You will be getting your moneys worth.
Unlike the NANOCOMPRESSOR the verb is actully good.

Although editing is not a option other then an adjust button that gives you some editing ability, the effects are the typical choices for most uses. the sound quality is good for the price.

For home recording or using it as a second reverb unit in your studio it is quite capable, even with 16 presets on board. !

I have a pre-nano era Microverb (pretty much the same thing). A piece I got used five years ago for like $60. Save for a scracthy pot, it's a pretty decent unit.
