Tom Delonge voice distortion tactics

Im a singer/songwriter who will openly admit that i am a terrible singer. Im going to take lessons but want to know more about voice distortion. Ive got an Avid m-box mini with Pro Tools 8 LE. Im trying to find the best settings to get a Tom Delonge feel for some covers. The songs i wish to cover are: Blink 182's 'I miss you'; and Angels and Airwaves' 'Flight of Apollo'. I know he changes around a lot i just need to learn how to manipulate voice as well as he can. Can someone help?
Im not too savvy with recording jargon or for that matter general terms of recording so if you could dumb it down a peg below layman's terms it would be much appreciated.

Do you mean something like auto tune or pitch correction?

i put down the wrong name for the Angels and Airwaves cover. the song im trying to cover by AVA is 'call to arms' from the I-Empire CD.

when blink first started tom did not use any voice changing programs but as they progressed and he went towards a different feel from his old alternative voice. he expresses this change in the chorus of 'stay together for the children.' he shows it in the side project Boxcar Racer in the song 'sorrow'. and it became a constant in the Angels & Airwaves project.
for what ive been told and what ive researched he uses an extreme compression on his voice but do not understand the equipment or terminology that is necessary to know what i would need to mimic his vocals.
