Need help with Midi setup

Hi all,

Id like to setup protools as a master midi to send midi to my Yamaha Rx5 drum machine, yamaha dx7, and prophet 6 synthesizer simultaneously.

What Id like to do is compose drum midi on protools then send the midi to my drum machine to play. I would also like the same on my dx7, and prophet 6. Is this possible? Thanks

Old post, but, not super old so...Yes, this should be possible, assuming your ProTools has some kind of MIDI recorder/playback.

The cabling/connections might look something like this, assuming you have a MIDI OUT on your ProTools rig:

ProTools (MIDI OUT) -> (MIDI IN) Yamaha Rx5 (MIDI THRU) -> (MIDI IN) Yamaha dx7 (MIDI THRU) -> (MIDI IN) prophet 6

Hope this makes sense. You will need to read up a little on MIDI channel assignment. Don't worry, its like riding a bike, once you get it down, you'll never forget it ; )
