Midi In/ Out mod on mixer. Why?

I bought a Ramsa WRS 852 40 channel analog mixer and a company called Windt Audio has added midi in/out on back of the mixer with a wire terminal screw and another connector besides the 2 midi hookups. What would this be used for? Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance. Joe
 
And just because it's 5-pin DIN doesn't automatically mean it carries MIDI information. That connector had been used for other things.
 
I had a look at the manual and MIDI in/Out/Through was standard on this model. It could actually provide remote control of a number of functions including mute groups (as mentioned) but also VCA presets, etc. It was actually pretty comprehensive.
