USB Condenser Mic - Gain/Input Staging

Hi,
I just grabbed an USB Condenser Mic for Podcasting. STRANGE! Input Level was so HIGH, peaked though I just turn the input level to 1/10 !

Need your help... what should I do? Is it Mic Faulty? Or...

The level on the microphone? If it peaks on 1, then that is defective. Can't you just adjust things in the DAW?
