About 5 years ago (yikes!) I purchased
a TOA K2 small condenser cardiod mic. It was on sale at Sam Ash for about $80.00 with a list of ~$300. Since I play mainly acoustic guitar, I thought this would be a good deal. I currently use it with an Aphex 107 pre into a Yamaha MD4S. The sound is pretty good but I have no idea how it would compare to an SM81, KM184 or an AT4041. I know TOA doesn't make this model anymore and I can't find any info on it on the web. Would any of the other mics I mentioned kick this one's butt (I'm sure the KM184 would but that's pricey!)Any thoughts, ideas, etc...
