Any users of said mic in the title? Maybe a possible decent multi-pattern alternative to the AT4050 or C414? I've seen this mentioned by one member here and on another board, but I'd like to hear a few other opinions.
CS5 - The Ultimate Studio Microphone

From what I've read the mic delivers pretty much an uncolored sound without much any boost in any frequency range. There are a few Youtube videos, but some of those seem to be tied back to Studio Projects.

I've got a CSS and I quite like it... Its the only LDC i use in my own recordings. I used to have an AT4033 and although that mic obviously isnt multi pattern, i preferred the sound of the Cs5. Self noise is quite low, lots of options to tailor the sound on the way in, a decent price... What more can one ask for, really?

Any chance you can do a fuller review and maybe some samples?
    Thanks

As you ascend the budget price scale, the CS series is the first intended "all rounder" LDC that REALLY has always impressed me.

If I were starting over, would prefer it over the (otherwise excellent) AT 4050. I prefer the "switches off" tone vs. a 4050, and like the extra tone
of the various high and low pass filter options. Partly my taste also, as I love the more vintage vibed AT 4047.

If I ever used more sound treatment, even hanging duvet's (classis SOS mag suggestion), a CS would be my next LDC purchase.

FWIW have an unusual voice (particularly in baritone) however, and various dynamics-especially neodymium based-work excellently too IMHO.

I've recorded in tiny untreated rooms with the CS5 before and the results have been surprising. I can only imagine what would happen in a better room. Here's my friend Rocky. It's such an imperfect mix, but hey.

    Hey Kierkes, good job!

Have you guys thought about being a vocal/harmony duo, since you both have A-1 voices?

FWIW I'm trying to put together a male (me!)/female Country/Soul duet oriented (small combo) locally in South OC...
