I've not seen a lot of discussion on the Beta 57a here...I am wondering if anyone has tried it in the role of the SM57 and how they found it.

I have 3 or 4 of each, and I dont know whether to get rid of all my 57's, all my beta's or to just leave myself a couple of each.

Keep them all and acquire more!

:D

I had too many SM57 (8), and cut back to (4) instead. I replaced the others with ATM25, ATM23HE, D4, and M400. This gives me more toys, and more choices. All except the D4 were purchased used.

The beta57 seems to have a smoother high end. But the real advantage, for me at least, is the metal windscreen. Drummers can whack the crap out of it and it's easily replaceable.

i got about 7 sm 57's
and i'm gonna sell 3 of them,

got a nice list of replacement mics that might do a better job...
i'm gonna experiment with some hypercardioid mics now...

did anyone ever test the Beyerdynamic opus series ?
i'm real curious about some of them..

and like said before, you can never have enough 57's...thats true,
for live or in the studio...

i'm keeping a few...but if my new ones aren't even close to their quality i'm gonna replace everything again !

beta or not, they rock
